My second post about the Ringling’s is the Ringling Art Museum. the Museum is a great place to visit in the Sarasota area. We think Mondays are the best days to visit because admission is free on Mondays. The regular prices for admission are twenty-five dollars for adults, twenty-three for seniors, Five for children six to seventeen years of age and under six is free. My first visit to the art museum, walking up to the entrance did not prepare me for what awaited me inside.

The museum has several special showings, which change through out the year.

Walking into the art museum I expected to see great paintings on canvas. I did get to see just that.

But I also got to see so much more.

We found the museum was filled with so many great works. I enjoyed seeing the connection certain pieces had to history. For a history major like myself it brought many of the events that I have studied to life.

The building housing the museum is U shaped with a courtyard between the legs of the U. Statues and landscaping make the courtyard a must see. From the entrance or the base of the U, we were able to look down the length of the courtyard.

We walked down the paths to insure we saw everything. but the other real exit is a little over midway.

The midway area marked by the statue of David, gives a great view of the courtyard. Looking back toward the entrance I could see everything that we had walked by. Then turning we could see the back of the courtyard as it ran to the Gulf of Mexico. After that view you should grab drinks and go enjoy the view by the Gulf.

During your planning for The Ringling Art Museum, you have to plan for two days. One day just does not do it justice.

To my two favorite artist Phillip, and Larry, I can only say those art classes are important. It would have been a shame for the world to have missed out on this.

We love the Siesta Key area and one of the things we love most is the Ringling’s in Sarasota. Because of the amount of things to see I will break it down to three post.

The first post will be the grounds surrounding the Ringling home and the art museum. The second will be the art museum and the third will be the house.

When you arrive at the Ringling you enter in a common area and choose what you wish to see.

The museum admission is about twenty five dollars for adults and includes the art museum and the circus museum. For an additional ten dollars you can include the first floor of the Ca’d’Zan or Ringling house. For twenty dollars more then the museum price you can get the first and second floor of the Ca’d’Zan. John’s tour is thirty dollars and does not include the museums. But it takes you to the fourth floor and the tower. John and Mables tour is fourth dollars and covers the entire house but does not include the museums. A great deal is Monday’s, on Monday you get free admission to the art museum.

We felt that you could spend a day just in the art museum so we took advantage of the free Mondays.

After planning your visit and buying tickets you can walk straight to the circus museum and then continue on the Ringling House (Ca’d’Zan). If instead you turn left you can go to the art museum.
