Let’s Go Down to Cootie Brown’s

I was in Bristol Tennessee and wanted to get some real food, so I decided let’s  go down to Cootie Brown’s. When I pulled into the parking lot I saw a very different looking building. Where as most restaurants have about the same look, Cootie Brown’s was different.

We had a great waiter, Brandon, who was very helpful answering question about their menu.

I found the menu to be the kind of menu that I would have if I ran a restaurant.  Being full of all the good stuff, it took us a while to order.  at last we ordered their famous Spiral Potato Chips to snack on while we decided.

The Chips were as good as Brandon said they would be. My wife after much debate decided upon the Cobb Salad. After bragging on the dressing, we learned that Cootie Brown’s makes their dressings in house as well as their sauces, spices, pesto’s and desserts .

I decided to keep with the healthy food, by ordering the BBQ Nachos you know how I love Nachos. They have to be seen and tasted to be believed. They come like most nachos with tortillas, lettuce, Pico de Gallo, jalapenos and Cheese. But then it gets different, on top of all these flavors they add, their fresh pulled pork and BBQ sauce.

This Is It

Our waiter Brandon was a good judge of people. I was given a bucket containing six different BBQ sauces so that I could add more of the Sweet Sauce, or I could try different flavors. It was at this moment that I bonded with the guy sitting at the table next to us. As he and his wife were leaving he looked at my Nachos and then at me. With the look a man gives to another, who is setting on a great quest he said, “I wish I had enough time so I could sit here and watch you try to eat all of that”.

I fail in my attempt but I would not be opposed to trying again someday. But whether I order the Nachos or something else from the menu, I will turn to my wife some day and say “Let’s go down to Cootie Brown’s“.

I have been ask how an Air B  n B works. So this is how we went about it the first time. I wanted to go to Siesta Key Florida for the month of February. By doing this it would allow me to miss the coldest and worst part of winter.

After searching through dozens of homes on the Air B n B site, I found one that had everything I was looking for. It was at Siesta Key, sat on the water (cannel) and it was close to the shops, beach and restaurants.  When first did this post I left out that with Air B &B you can pull up a map of an area and see what they have in the area.  You can then move north or south depending on wheather you are seeing what you are looking for. All the houses have photos and reviews look at all of them.

My next step was to research the house and the owner. I read all the reviews and found good things about both. My next step was to pay for it, which Air B & B handled. During the search I put in the amount I wanted to pay and they show me only houses that fit my request.  I paid them and they paid the owner. After payment I was given directions to the house and contact information for the owner.

The owner contacted us the day of our arrival and told us they had cleaned the house and told us the code to open the door.. He gave us his contact information in case anything was wrong.

We found information left by the owner explaining heating and cooling, hot tub, maps, shopping and restaurants.

We had a great time with the equipment supplied by the owner.  He provided beach chairs, beach toys for kids and fishing poles. We got on line and bought our Florida fishing license and were then good to go.

Grandson’s Fish

My daughter came down and stayed a few day with us. I got to see my Grandson catch a fish. Then at the end of the month my sister-in-law and her husband came down and stayed a few days.

Brother-in-law

It was a great stay for us. We had one problem with the hot tub not working, but I called the owner and he came over with a repair man and had it going in no time.

When looking at Air B & B’s or any rent by owners check to see what is included and what is not. We enjoyed our stay . As a result of this we have use Airbnb several times afterward.
